Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults begins in September. The RCIA provides an opportunity to learn What Catholics believe and what it means to be Catholic. Unbaptized adults have the opportunity to be baptized. Those already baptized have the opportunity to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church. Also adult Catholics are invited to attend to learn more about their faith.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
I will be traveling to Memphis after Mass today and will return on July 2. If there is a pastoral emergency during these days please contact Sherri 234.544 day, or 234.8383 evenings. This is the procedure to follow when I am away for an extended period of time.
We welcome Allan Frederick to our parish. He arrived last Tuesday and will be spending some of the summer with us. Allan is discerning a call to diocesan priesthood. We wish him well and pray that God will provide guidance during his discernment.
What if God does care about what I wear to church? While this statement may or may not be true, have we become too casual about our attire and attendance at Mass? Perhaps we think “it doesn’t matter.” The truth is that it does matter! “Sunday best” seems to have lost its meaning. Perhaps if we saw our attire and attendance at Mass as giving back to God, we might see that “dressing up” is the least we can do for God. Dressing up is also a nonverbal way of showing our children that our church is an important place; it is God’s house and Mass is an important event; for we do this in memory of Jesus who died for me.
To help understand the New Revised Roman Missal and so that we will be able to participate at Mass when the new translation is ready for use, we will sponsor an education series.
Each of the following topics will be presented after Mass. Each of the eight sessions will include a ten to fifteen minutes oral presentation and time for Questions and Answers.
