A year in the life of St. Edward Church 2011

 

In January First Penance was held

-Day of Prayer & Penance for Life

-Blood Drive

-Catholic Schools Week

alumni homecoming events


In February Sweetheart brunch was held

-meetings for extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion and lectors were held

-women’s retreat at Marydale

-Confirmation

 

In March registrations for ccd, preschool and school

-new norms and commissioning of extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion and lectors

-worker sign ups for the Ice Cream Social were held. 145 parishioners returned a sign up sheet

-DPAA dinner in Maysville

-fish fries

-Life Planning Event held

 

In April nominations for the Board of Ed and the Parish Council taken

-DPAA/Parish Campaign

-Community Stations of Cross

-church basement flooded

-All Councils meeting

 

In May -Altar Society yard sale

-First Communion

-May Crowning &Scapulars

-Tony Stoeppel ordained priest

-elections for the Board of Ed and the Parish Council

-Blood Drive conducted

 

In June made 246 gallons of ice cream on Freezing Day, finished at 3:10 pm

-Social weather was great!

-good crowds, but began to thin out about 3:30 pm

social profit $11,000

-new cafeteria water heater

 

In August enrollment: 24 in ccd, 25 in preschool, 36 in school

-the end of the year financial report was presented

-parish had a surplus of $38,000

-school had a surplus of $400

-Mission Cooperative speaker

-school received $4,000 from DPAA service grants

-conducted Friends of St. Edward appeal – collected $8,595

 

September conducted stewardship renewal efforts & nominations for our Parish Service Awards

-altar server training held

-Blue Mass & Vespers for tenth anniversary of 9/11

-collection for deficit reduction

-new roof on convent installed

- new water heater installed

-insulation on a/c in Brinker Hall

 

In October 42 parishioners attended cemetery visitation

- hosted a Life Screening event

-Long Time Service Award was presented to Tom Boland

-A Caring Heart Award was presented to Ruth Box (in memoriam)

-collection for deficit reduction

-mold removal in basement

 

In November conducted St. Edward School Annual Appeal and collected $2,500

-conducted Parish Offertory Commitment Program

-124 households returned a Commitment card for the parish which totaled $4,337 each Sunday

-59 household returned a Commitment card for the school which totaled $1,357 each month

-began using new Roman Missal

-collection for deficit reduction

 

In December made candy and the Altar Society sponsored the annual Christmas bazaar

-collection for deficit reduction

-parish received $262,100 in Sunday offerings

(average of $5,040 each Sunday)

-school received $20,300 in support from parishioners

(average of $1,690 each month)

-Building Fund received $8,300 from parishioners

-DPAA pledges of $42,520 by 84 households (goal of $50,000:

$25,000 dpaa & $25,000 parish campaign)
