February 14, 2011
Dear parents,
The Board of Total Catholic Education confirmed our student fees and tuition rates for 2011/12. I am happy to announce that tuition rates will remain unchanged. The registration fee needs to be increased. This fee has not increased in more than 8 years. Student fees will total $300 per student and are described below. See the Registration Form for payment options. Financial assistance is available to all students for Student Fees. If you need assistance contact me asap.
The Registration Fee is $100 and non refundable. It must be paid by May 1. This pays for per student head tax charged by the Department of Catholic Education and the Kentucky League of Educational Alternatives. It also provides for expenses connected to the Blue Folder, tuition collection, report cards and maintaining student records.
The Book Fee is $150. It must be paid by the first day of school. This year we spent $5,200 for consumable work books and other printed materials. This is an average of $153 per student. Please keep in mind this does not include text books or other materials.
The Technology Fee is $50. It must be paid by the first day of school. This year we have already spent more than $1,600 to maintain our computer server, network and toner for the laser printers.
The 2011/12 tuition rates will remain the same as this year’s rates:
active parishioner school family
1 child $2,400 1 child $3,000
2 children $3,550 2 children $4,250
3 children $4,300 3 children $5,100
Enclosed is our 2011/12 Registration Form. We will conduct pre-registration from March 1 - 15. PLEASE return your form to me by March 15. I thank you in advance for your cooperation! Your attention to this matter will help determine how many desks are available for Open Enrollment which begins on March 16. It is our hope to increase enrollment next year.
FYI This year’s school budget is $268,400. We have 33 students enrolled. We project our cost per student will be more than $7,800. Please keep in mind that tuition pays less than one half of teacher and staff salaries and benefits. St. Edward Church pays the remaining salary / benefits bill.
If there are financial difficulties facing your household which make your child’s return uncertain for next year please contact me asap so we can work out an arrangement to keep your child enrolled in St. Edward School. Tuition assistance is available for all returning students. While the economy continues to “straighten out” we must work together to maintain a sense of stability for our children and school. Please remember we are in this together. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Rev. Douglas Lauer
pastor
