The Sacrament of Baptism is the beginning of life - supernatural life. When the Sacrament of Baptism is administered, the spiritual vacuum which we call original sin disappears as God becomes present in the soul, and the soul is caught up into that sharing of God’s own life which we call sanctifying grace.
Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other Sacraments, and the beginning of a person’s initiation into the life of the Church.
Scheduling Your Child's Baptism
In all instances, it is advisable to contact the Church Office, or the Pastor, well in advance before the birth of your child(en) to prepare for his or her Baptism. It is mandatory that first-time parents meet with the Pastor at least one (1) month prior to the Baptism of their firstborn. To assist in scheduling, please print and fill out the Baptism Request Form and turn it in to the Church Office.
The Roman Catholic Church has long encouraged Infant Baptism. Please do not wait to have your child Baptized by the Church.
Please Note: Adults are initiated into the life of the Church through an educational process called the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). Typically, the process begins in the Autumn and concludes in the Spring at the Easter Vigil. For more information, please contact the Church Office at 859-234-5444.
