A heartfelt Merry Christmas also to all of our parishioners and guests as we join together in thanksgiving to God for all the ways in which He has blessed us. It is with great joy that we celebrate the birthday of the Lord Jesus! I sincerely hope that the remembrance of Christ’s birth brings you much peace and hope.
The mood of this Feast is summed up by words of the angels to the shepherds in Luke 2:10-14:
“And the angel said to them: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, that shall be to all the people: For, this day, is born to you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David. And this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes, and laid in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army, praising God, and saying: Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men of good will.”
Christmas is a time to celebrate with family and friends the greatest gift that God has given us: His Son Jesus. Let us not forget the true meaning and reason of this beautiful season that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, Emmanuel, God is with us. What a beautiful gift! That we too, like the angel of the Lord may spread the good news of great joy for all people and echo his praise to God saying: Glory be to God in the highest and on earth peace to those whom his favor rests! On behalf of myself and the whole staff of St Edward Catholic Church we want to wish you and your family a blessed Christmas. May you follow Jesus, the reason of our joy to a shining celebration of faith, peace and love. Merry Christmas!
